Last updated: July 10, 2026. Privacy is File Guru's core design principle, not an afterthought.
Every tool in File Guru except the three explicitly-labeled AI tools processes your files entirely in your browser. Your files are never uploaded to, or seen by, our servers. We collect only what's needed to run accounts, billing, and the optional AI features.
If you don't create an account: nothing. Free tools require no sign-up and send us no data about the files you process.
If you create an account: your email address and a securely hashed password (we never store your password in plain text — see Section 5). If you subscribe to Pro or Team, our payment processor Stripe collects your payment details directly; we never see or store your card number.
If you use an AI tool (AI PDF Summarizer, AI Rewrite & Translate, AI Extract Data, or the chat assistant): the text you submit is sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, to generate a response. We log that an AI request occurred (timestamp, which tool) to manage usage limits, but do not store the content of your request beyond what's needed to return the response.
Cookies: if you're logged in, a single session cookie keeps you signed in. Free-plan visitors and logged-out visitors may also be shown a single ad on tool pages via Google AdSense, which can set its own advertising/measurement cookies; see Google's policies for details. Pro and Team subscribers never see ads.
To operate your account and subscription, to process AI tool requests, to send transactional emails (password resets, billing receipts), to show ads to free-plan visitors (which helps keep the tool library free), and to maintain the security of the Service. We do not sell your data, and we do not use your data to train AI models.
Only the service providers required to run File Guru: Stripe (payment processing), Anthropic (AI tool responses, only when you use an AI tool), Resend (transactional email), and Google AdSense (ads shown to free-plan/logged-out visitors only). Each processes data under their own privacy policy and only for the purpose of providing their service to us.
Passwords are hashed using PBKDF2-SHA256 with a unique random salt per account — we cannot see or recover your actual password. Sessions use secure, httpOnly cookies. All traffic is encrypted in transit (HTTPS).
You can request a copy of your account data, or request deletion of your account and associated data, at any time by contacting us at mrklashksa@gmail.com. We'll respond within a reasonable timeframe, subject to any records we're legally required to retain (e.g. billing history).
File Guru is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
We may update this policy from time to time; we'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do.
