This is the setting that decides whether a long clip finishes at all. Everything runs inside the browser tab's own memory, so a 4K source is the usual reason a conversion runs out of memory partway through — halving the height removes about three quarters of the pixels it has to hold. A video already smaller than the size you pick keeps its own resolution; nothing is ever enlarged.
Balanced leaves the encoder on its own default, which is what this tool has always used. The other two trade size against detail — on a clip that is mostly motion, Better quality can end up larger than the file you started with, which is a normal result for a re-encode rather than a fault.
Screen recordings, timelapses and silent clips usually carry an empty or unwanted audio track anyway. Dropping it also skips the audio re-encode, so the conversion finishes sooner.
Processed entirely on your device via WebAssembly (FFmpeg). Nothing is uploaded anywhere.
This tool is in Beta: it loads a ~30MB WebAssembly engine on first use. Best for shorter clips under ~2 minutes while in Beta.
