Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 10, 2026. Privacy is File Guru's core design principle, not an afterthought.

Template notice: This is a starting draft, not legal advice. The entity name (RA Marketing), jurisdiction (Kingdom of Bahrain), and contact email below are placeholders based on your account details — confirm they match your actual registered business, and have a qualified lawyer review this page for your actual jurisdiction (e.g. GDPR, CCPA) before launch.

1. The short version

Every tool in File Guru except the three explicitly-labeled AI tools processes your files entirely in your browser. Your files are never uploaded to, or seen by, our servers. File Guru is completely free — there's no billing to speak of. We collect only what's needed to run the optional AI features and the optional account system, and to show the single ad that supports the site.

2. What we collect

If you don't create an account: nothing beyond standard ad delivery (see Cookies below) and one anonymous usage record: which tool page you opened, and when. That record never includes a file name, file content, or anything about what you actually did with the tool — it exists purely so we can see which tools are worth maintaining. See Section 2a.

2a. Anonymous tool-usage analytics. When you open a tool page, your browser sends a small, one-line signal to our server: the tool's name and a timestamp — nothing else. If you're logged in, it's also linked to your account so you could ask us to delete it; if you're not logged in, it's not linked to anything that identifies you. This never includes file names, file contents, form input, or any data from the file you're processing — those still never leave your browser, exactly as described elsewhere in this policy. We use this only in aggregate (e.g. "Compress PDF was used 40 times this week") to understand which tools people actually use.

If you create an account: your email address and a securely hashed password (we never store your password in plain text — see Section 5). An account is optional and free — it exists purely for your convenience, not to gate access to anything.

If you use an AI tool (AI PDF Summarizer, AI Rewrite & Translate, AI Extract Data, or the chat assistant): the text you submit is sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, to generate a response. We log that an AI request occurred (timestamp, which tool) to manage usage limits, but do not store the content of your request beyond what's needed to return the response.

Cookies: if you're logged in, a single session cookie keeps you signed in. Every visitor may be shown a single, clearly labeled ad via Google AdSense, which can set its own advertising/measurement cookies; see Google's policies for details.

3. How we use it

To operate your optional account, to process AI tool requests, to send transactional emails (password resets), to show the ad that keeps the tool library free, and to maintain the security of the Service. We do not sell your data, and we do not use your data to train AI models.

4. Who we share it with

Only the service providers required to run File Guru: Anthropic (AI tool responses, only when you use an AI tool), Resend (transactional email), and Google AdSense (ads shown to every visitor). Each processes data under their own privacy policy and only for the purpose of providing their service to us.

5. How we protect it

Passwords are hashed using PBKDF2-SHA256 with a unique random salt per account — we cannot see or recover your actual password. Sessions use secure, httpOnly cookies. All traffic is encrypted in transit (HTTPS).

6. Your rights

You can request a copy of your account data, or request deletion of your account and associated data, at any time by contacting us via our contact page. We'll respond within a reasonable timeframe.

7. Children's privacy

File Guru is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time; we'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do.
